NEED FOR ONENESS AND NOT TOGETHERNESS IN NURSING

NEED FOR ONENESS AND NOT TOGETHERNESS IN NURSING
Though still young in the profession but I will say, the problems in Nursing is as a result of Nurses action which is the refusal to move and progress probably due to the comfortability we get from the change being given to us as income.
Medicine and Medical Lab Science started at diploma level but later integrated into the university level where quantifyable and higher certificate is being offered and all diploma centre were closed down. This is the point where revolution of these courses started from.
Truly, we now have degree Nursing in our country today but how many universities is being accredited for Nursing? Compared to the schools of Nursing. Looking at it from the state level e.g Osun State as an example, we have two(2) universities in the state offering Nursing, but we have four schools of Nursing in the state, meaning the number of Nurses produced by the schools of Nursing in the state yearly is higher than that of the Universities in the state.
I will agree with you that RN, BSC in Nursing and BNSc might be “together “ but we are not “one”. There are so many associations now such as association of graduate Nurses.
Until our leaders see the need to Integrate all schools of  Nursing into the University system and   and make them degree awarding institution and also make all post basic schools to post graduate colleges then Nursing will keep on crawling while other professions are flying.
In the ongoing strike, if our leaders can stand up and define our needs  which include we becoming ONE and not TOGETHER as we are now, then we cannot be better. As the internal conflict that some are graduates while some are not will still continue.
Until Nursing is being restructured then Nursing will still be crawling and we will still be behind.
