INDIPENDENCE IN NIGERIA; Worth celebrating??

On_Independence_Celebration. Too busy to write on the independence we claim to be celebrating. It's so true that we are independent now but is it worth celebrating?? Independence that has caused disunity amongst us in the country. Independence that has increased greed, self centeredness selfishness, killings and sufferings in the country. We got independence from the so called oppressors, but are we sure we are actually free from the oppressors??? No!! I say No!! We are not because the oppression increased over time and the only thing that has changed about the oppressors is #skin #colour which has basically changed from "white to black". Even in those days, my Grandma told me one Naira was more than 1 pound but today one pound is about #430. When my Grandma was alive, I enjoyed the story of when Nigeria was a better country but the more "Civilization and advancement" the more the greediness, selfishness and covetousness we get. A random and regular youth will say that we are are thieves in the country and will do even more or same thing this present leaders are doing but should it be so?? I know I am not like the regular and random youth who believe we all are thieves in the country and that there isn't a truthful person, I refuse to accept that nor pass that to the coming generation, I am not one of them and I pray to God for me not to be like them (present leaders) when I get there. Some of the leaders following independence virtually got to the leadership position for the power and just to enrich their pockets. Nigeria my own country, where hath thou Nigeria my own dear country, what do you have in stock for the future generation? Nigeria my very own country, is it the mindset of corruption and lifestyle that will be passed on to generations? Nigeria my own beloveth country, is it non-challant attitude about the happenings in the country once comfortable that we pass on to the coming generation? Nigeria my own glorious country, is it injustice, self centerdness. Corruption, over ruled democracy, pains, sufferings, unemployments, illegal businesses and all evil devices that will be passed on to the coming generation?? Nigeria my own dear country, is it weak youths and battered youths that will become leaders and fathers of the coming generation?? We need to wake up for the country to be a better one, justice is needed in the country, the country has long lost her vision end glory but who can restore it back?? Let's sing the old anthem and put this new anthem aside today because Nigeria need prayers and not just calls, we need to make Nigeria work again. Song: (Old national anthem) Nigeria we hail thee our own dear Native land though tribes and tongues may differ, in brotherhood we stand, Nigerians are proud to serve our sovereign mother land. Please let's pray for the country, we need back our old glory to work again. Nigerians are suffering Nigerians are in pain Nigerians are frustrated Nigerians are only surviving not living Nigerians are escaping not emigrating #Nigeria_must_work_again #Thanks Orolugbagbe Olabanji Joel #Nurse #Writer #Socialist #My_mind Y
