BORDER CLOSURE AND ITS' RELEVANCIES by Banji Joel:
Let me be factual here, I have seen the closure of the border as a good thing to do following various developments and outcomes of the decision.
More locally produced rice are now being consumed (though very expensive which I believe should have been considered before the closure of the border).
But it would have been so perfect if all borders are being closed, I mean borders against all Political leaders traveling out to receive treatment, sending their children outside to study, going abroad to shop etc.
Importation of generators, cars, telephones, wears (clothes, shoes, bags etc), electric cables, kitchen utensils, cows/cattles and all materials which can be produced in our country should be banned too.
Border closure should be all round so that all sectors can develop and not just the rice aspect of agricultural sector.
At a time like this, ways to improve the country's income and economy should be the major aim and patronizing our own products is a key to achieving that.
Working on our power supply, education, health, transportation and security should also be looked into and border should also be closed against anything (such as Politicians going abroad for healthcare services) that will affect the growth of our own economy.
I stand with Buhari's decision only if all borders can be closed and all home made products to be used for all home companies to grow.
