SUPPORT NURSES AND MIDWIVES by Olabanji Joel
2020 is the year of Nurses and Midwives and it has been tagged "Support Nurses and Midwives" by WHO.
Supporting nurses and midwives will go a long way in promotion of health, prevention of sickness, sickness treatment and coping with disability and alleviation of suffering which will immensely lead to a healthy society and long live for all.
Nursing is simply known as caring and the word "caring" entails many things such as making others comfortable even at your own discomfort.
Nursing/midwifery is a notable profession which has over the years been the epicenter of the health care system.
A nurse/midwife is the first to receive a patient and the last to care for a patient.
A nurse/midwife ushers human, care so that the human can thrive in the new environment and a nurse still stays as the last person to care for an individual, giving palliative care at the later end of the person's life and also to perform the procedure called "the last office".
Nurses don't stay back in difficult procedures and cases because their services remains essential for the procedure to be adequately done for the patient's wellbeing.
Even in infectious patients, nurses still stays around the patient 24/7, they can't leave because that is what they do, they stay when others leave, the give hope when all hope seems lost, they alleviate the situation to a better one when all seems it has been depreciated, they give the soothing touch and words to the broken and the weak.
Nursing is more of a calling than a profession because empathy is what nurse works with.
Nurses are heroes,
Nurses are saviours,
Nurses gives life to the world,
Nurses gives hope to the world,
Nurses are everywhere because of their significance.
Support nurses and midwives and this is the encouragement you can give to them.
To all nurses and midwives out there, your efforts are recognized and appreciated, thank you for working even when not being appreciated, thank you for staying put despite being overworked and short paid, thanks for taking it all for the world.
2020 is the Year of nurses and midwives as declared by the world health organisation to celebrate them, please do if you have anyone around you because they are superhumans.
Thanks.
