LATEST UPDATE ON THE JUST REVEALED DEN OF QUACKS OWNED BY UNIVERSITY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES TEACHING HOSPITAL CHAIRMAN MEDICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE, DR. MICHAEL GBALA. Olabanji Joel reporting.
On the 27th July, 2020 it was reported by a Nursing media platform (Nurses on Air) that the CMAC of UNIMEDTHC just graduated fresh trained ladies with an issued certificate given to them to be Nurses. This publication caused several uproar on the social media which made the Ondo State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Director Nursing Services Ondo State and all important nursing stakeholders to be called upon to take action against the ridicule of the noble profession.
The CMAC in person of Dr. Michael Gbala on 28th July, 2020 apologized on his Facebook with a statement which didn't go well with the nurses who took to the comment section of this post to vent out their anger and their disappointment at his actions. In the comment section, it was written there that "a man who trains young girls to be quacks can not value the professional nurses and this can be seen in the way nurses working at UNIMEDTHC are being treated". The post was later brought down by the CMAC with speculations that it was brought down due to the comments under the post and reactions gotten from the Nurses.
It was also gathered that the supposed Matron of this hospital finished from Adeyemi College of Education and she doesn't possess any professional training but she heads the hospital nursing department and parades herself as a Nurse as this was clearly stated on her Facebook profile.
The call for the closure of the hospital where this act is being performed and the removal of the Doctor from his post as the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee filled the list and post of nurses on social media.
Today, 29th July, 2020, it was gotten that precious Hospital owned by this individual who trains quacks to be used in place of professional nurses has been closed down by the state Ministry of Health following the action taken by the State NANNM and other stakeholders in the profession.
This is not a battle against an individual but against the ridicule being meted out to the noble profession over the years, As of today, the CMAC is yet to say anything again asides from his social media one sentence apology which has been brought down and no statement about him yet. While the nursing world sees the closure of the hospital as a step forward, a disciplinary action against the owner of the facility is also being awaited.
The match against quackery is a match to safe humanity from the hands of people who pretend to be nurses by putting on white and also to protect the young ones from being taken advantage of by the perpetrators of the crime who want to get cheap labour even at the expense of people's lives and future.
Thanks
