NEED FOR REVOLUTION; MEAGRE INCOME, UNEMPLOYMENT AND CORRUPTION IN THE FAILED NATION
It's not a news in Nigeria anymore that we have graduates riding commercial bikes and many graduates working in places where they earn less than the minimum wage, some even earn as low as #10,000-#15,000 monthly, so how are they surviving in a time like this without pay? The annoying pay has made the country lose many great brains and skills. Other public as seen in the 15% given to the National Assembly members are now using our brains to develop their country. Migration to other countries has now been seen as success in Nigeria. What a failed country.
While in tertiary institution, I realised that many students without responsibility get and spend #10,000-#20,000 monthly, my concern is how will an individual with responsibility survive in a world of today with #20,000 monthly as planned by the government to offer the 774,000 person who are to work for 3months? The simple answer is that the person will still be dependent on his/her parents whom he should be giving back to.
The opportunities our parents had in their days is no more and now, graduates need to fight and struggle to get a well paying job which might not be gotten even 10years post graduation due to the limited vacancy which has even been bought before it was thrown out to the public as seen in the 15% given to the National Assembly members.
So, a graduate without influential parents who can help him secure a job will have no choice but to do any job he finds. The major reason for the increase in poverty rate has been attributed to large rate of unemployment which keeps on increasing yearly.
Only the rich will continue being rich because they control businesses, power and the economy, they give the best to their children and family members while they give crumbs to the masses.
Questions: When will a man earning #20,000 or #25,000 monthly settle down? When will he also be responsible to take up responsibilities? When will he achieve his dreams?
I call Nigeria a dream killer because many talents and brains has been killed by the degrading situation of the country, success in the country is not about academic success, talent or skill anymore, it's about how influential one is and how much corrupt in terms of bribing officials one can be.
In March 2020, the Representatives asked the federal government to declare emergency on youths unemployment but it wasn't done because they are not affected, it's not a matter to be taken serious because they don't have their children in that category.
This is not the failure of APC alone, it started from the days of PDP, they didn't make the development of the country parallel to the increasing population. Sustainance of industries was not looked into as many industries folded up while many moved to countries with better policies and power. 16years of PDP reign started the wreck of the nation while the takeover of APC has deeply immersed the sinking country into the ditch.
If provision of jobs is not prioritised, the calamity that will befall the nation will definitely not spare anyone, even those who think they are rich will not have peace. Criminality secondary to frustration might not be averted unless the welfare of the youths and employment is given prompt attention to.
When I see youths supporting APC and PDP, I look at such as someone who is comfortable with the crumbs being fed with or person selfishly supporting the failed leaders. A youth living well due to the opportunity he has today shouldn't close his eyes to the sufferings of his fellow youths, he should be empathetic enough to speak out and make a move to ease the pains of others.
The way forward in Nigeria is "REVOLUTION" which will cause a shake in the country and enforces restructuring. Revolution can't be done without the decision of the masses to get free from the claws of the wicked who only remember there are masses when they need our votes.
The youths need to speak out in unison and get back our future before it get totally truncated. Without revolution, the bright future filled with hope might just be a fairy tale which will never come true.
Let's be responsible for our own future because liberation won't be given freely, unanimously we need to get liberated.
Revolution comes with restructuring and resetting, it's about our future and that of the coming generation.
Note: You can't expect a future from someone who has no agenda for the future -Olabanji Joel.
Our present leaders have nothing to offer us anymore, they don't even have a plan for the future of the youths, all that matters to them is how to secure a future for their families and themselves. WE NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE IF WE WANT FREEDOM AND SUCCESS.
BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REVOLUTION TO COME.
