BE EMPATHETIC AND SPIT NOTHING OUT WITH A POLITICAL BIGOTED MINDSET ABOUT THE PROTEST HELD BY UNIMEDTHC NURSES. By Olabanji Joel


No one is using UNIMEDTHC Nurses against APC or AKEREDOLU, what do you expect those working for months without getting paid to do? They have negotiated many times, they stayed at the negotiating table when their counterpart went on strike severally despite facing more hardship, the nurses understand what being the heart of health care means but should they die while trying to save others? Don't you want them to grow too? Don't they have responsibilities to cater for? 

UNIMEDTHC Nurses are facing a lot, for those who knows me personally, just imagine me working for 4months without getting the small money which I should get, the money isn't what these people should be getting, they are being underpaid, nurses in Nigeria are being underpaid, that is why the best are leaving but should those of us here continue this way or regret not leaving?!!!

It is clearly evident to all that Governor Akeredolu has failed the people of Ondo state, the health care system that was well developed by the past government is at the verge of collapse now due to ignorance and irresponsibility displayed by the head of this failed administration. 

Please just be empathetic while you respond to the calls of the grieved persons, this government has failed in many ways and we can't keep up with this anymore.

We rise against injustice and inhumane treatment in all ways. 

NOTE: When the nursing department fails, the health care system falls, nursing holds care together and keeps it alive. We deserve more.

In my three years of marriage and what I have seen of marriages around me, I have come to realize that every day is an opportunity to celebrate love, foster understanding, practice forgiveness, and make sacrifices. Yesterday, I discharged a very demanding patient home. As she was about to leave the ward with her daughter, she called me over for a hug and expressed her gratitude. She told her daughter that I was a good nurse and was happy that I was part of her care team throughout her hospital stay. This gesture hit me differently, and it motivated me to do even more for my patients. As an adult with family responsibilities, I have come to realize that my profession is not just a job but a source of sustenance. I have learned to prioritize my role as a nurse above every thing I was actively doing before having a family, and the appreciation from patients like this one means a lot to me.
