WHAT SHOULD WE CELEBRATE BUHARI FOR ON HIS BIRTHDAY?
When someone is celebrated, a life of impact is what is being celebrated and not position, when position get celebrated over the life of impact, it means impact in the person's life is lost- Olabanji Joel
So it's Buhari's birthday, should we celebrate him for the farmers who were killed while working to make food available for us all or for the over 300 kidnapped students? Should we celebrate him for the devalued naira or the recession in the country? Should we celebrate him for the increased fuel price, electricity tariff and the price of cement? Should we praise him for incessant borrowing without a significant impact on our economy or should Buhari be celebrated for being clueless and insensitive to the happenings of the nation?
What should we celebrate Buhari for?
Well, Buharists will say he should be celebrated for the uncompleted railway which has gulped billions of dollars and has emerged the country in massive debt for future generations, the second Niger bridge which has not even gotten to half of it completion and school feeding which swallowed over #2bn while the students were at home. Buharists can further point it to us stating why we should celebrate a president who has no regard for the rule of law, a president with an acclaimed integrity but his regime as the president has been the worst in the country with repression of law and extreme poverty, well we can celebrate him for increased insecurity and deepening poverty.
Sincerely, Buhari should be celebrated only for making us wise and be greeted for being alive to unleash suffering on the nation, he should be hailed for giving us the reasons to ask questions when being promised, my president should be appreciated for letting us know that there are two types of change, so when next we get a promise of change from an individual or party, we would ask which type, the type of change we have experienced since transition of power in 2015 is a change accompanied with hardship for all and regret for majority who campaigned and voted for him. We should wholesomely celebrate General Mohammadu Buhari for opening our eyes, suffering has made many of us wise now.
Happy birthday our president and thanks for all you do sir. We will never forget you and may Nigeria never be afflicted with a plague like you sir. Amen!
