INTERNATIONAL NURSES' WEEK: VALUE OF NURSING AND VALUE PLACED ON NURSES IN NIGERIA. By Olabanji Joel.

Image
Every 12th of May is the birthday celebration of the mother of modern nursing in person of Florence Nightingale. This day is the major day to celebrate Nurses all over the globe. The 2021 International Nurses week started on the 6th and ends today, 12th of May 2021. Last year, the world battled with the height of pandemic caused by Covid-19 and it was a year that was declared the year of Nurses and Midwives by the World Health Organization. During this trying moment, I could relate the value of Nurses to the heart of a being and this is simply because when the heart stops working, such person is declared clinically dead.  Nurses are the heart of health care system. This implies that the health care system collapses when her impact isn't felt and this is a major reason why nurses rarely go on strike despite several insults, ill treatment and devaluation that faces the profession and the professionals. The value placed on nurses directly connote the value placed on the profession. In...

INTERNATIONAL NURSES' WEEK: EXPENSIVE NURSING EDUCATION, ONE OF THE REASONS BEHIND THRIVING QUACKERY. By Olabanji Joel

Image
It's international Nurses' week, a time to appreciate Nurses all over the world for their contribution into giving the best care and sustaining the health care system. This should start with Parents of Nurses especially in Nigeria who have been able to pay the exorbitant fees attributed to nursing education and for ensuring their wards become professional nurses.  It's saddening that quackery in Nursing is a thriving business in Nigeria as there are so many quacks and curbing them seems to be impossible. I was surprised to see quacks ignorantly celebrating Nurses' week, as if they were professionals. Are they not aware they are nothing but mere instrument in the hands of their trainer? How far can they go and how much can they earn as quacks? I think it is best I re-emphasize that youths into quackery are just wasting their precious time because it would be too late for them to realise that they are being taken advantage of by their trainers. WHY IS QUACKERY IN NURSING ...

PART 3: BABA IJESA'S ASSAULT CASE; Iyabo Ojo's part. By Olabanji Joel.

Firstly, it will be best to state again that starting from the part one of this write up to this third aspect  are all based on the statements made Princess, actions by Iyabo Ojo and the video evidences provided. Also, in reference to the evidences available with the media, Baba Ijesa is guilty of sexually molesting a child while Princess is guilty of subjecting the girl to another trauma just to get an evidence to use against Baba Ijesa. Further investigations as I said in my last analysis must be done as there is more to this case.  Princess who happens to be the foster mother of the abused girl is not totally free of crime, the case should be duly investigated for adequate judgement to be passed.  The major reason for this part of the write up which is Iyabo Ojo who has vehemently been all over the case and has been involved from the day one till this day, tackling everyone with a different opinion on the case. This would have been moderate enough if she had cautiously...

Part 2 BABA IJESA'S SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE; Princess's role over the period of seven years. By Olabanji Joel

Image
INTRODUCTION- If you seek true justice for the sexually assaulted minor, give a space for some vital questions to be answered and broader explanations to be made and if you want the case to be handled just by the statements made by Princess and evidences provided without more investigation then you don't mean the true justice you seek. While on one hand, it has been established that Baba Ijesa is guilty of child molestation as we all can evidently see in the CCTV video recording which has been released to the media, he will face the law and be punished for his crime duly as said by the Lagos state commissioner of police. On the other hand, there are sensitive questions which requires answers for true justice to be gotten for the poor girl which was molested. Should I start with the child being used as a bait to capture the pedophile which has resulted in child pornography or should I start with what happened when the girl was molested at seven and what has been happening between...

BABA IJESA'S SEXUAL ASSAULT CASE; Show of shame for the Yoruba movie industry BY Olabanji Joel.

Please don't comment with emotion but with critical thinking. The trending story for about a week now is about the sexual assault case involving a Nollywood actor which has gone viral and intense because of the gravity of his offence and several reactions from his fellow actors and actresses. First, let me start by saying that any form of sexual assault either rape or unruly touching is bad and whatever law as regarding such incident must be used against any perpetrator found guilty of such act. Baba Ijesa in a viral video agreed to have unruly touched a young girl of 14years of age. He was said to have caressed her body and even put her hand in her mouth (according to what the girl's foster mother said that CCTV captured and also what punch news released). The act which was captured on the CCTV was such a disgusting and abominable act which should be condemned vehemently followed by issuing an appropriate punishment for such an act. It was further said by the mother of the ...
