INTERNATIONAL NURSES' DAY CELEBRATION by Olabanji Joel
INTERNATIONAL NURSES' DAY.
Nursing is a profession that takes a lot from the professionals practising it, we are heroes without cape but less appreciated across all boards. Today, we celebrate ourselves for the good job we have been doing for the health care institutions and all patients across the globe. Like I always say, as Nurses we are trained to know something about the duties of our other professional colleagues while ensuring also that we master our main nursing care, this makes our responsibilities in ensuring patients care second to none. There is no health care institution that can survive 48hours without Nurses. We give a lot the profession, we are driven not by the money involved but by passion for caring, if it's for the money many of us would have been in a better lucrative job not in Nursing where we get paid lesser than our value.
So many nurses on a daily basis hide their issues behind the face mask to ensure that patients are happy, imagine smiling when we have our own issues. Imagine caring for the patients when on some medications for ill health. These and many more are the sacrifices of Nurses. Many nurses due to the passion for the profession even stay back during strike which is meant for a better valuation of the profession in order to care for the patients and ensure patients safety and many still get verbally abused by these patients đŸ˜¢. Many Nurses are so much into the profession that they think about what goes on at their place of work when off duty.
Today, I join all Nurses around the world to celebrate "US", we are heroes, we are doing well, we are pillars of the health care industry, we are the heart of the health care institution, we are indispensable, we are not just ordinary, we are unique in all ways, with pride we bear the name 'Nurse" and with dignity we passionately care for our patients. May all heroes without cape working in all conditions to make the health care delivery better live long to reap the reward of our hard labour. Amen.
