THE ROTTEN PART OF THE NATION ON THE PATH OF THE YOUTHS by Olabanji Joel

I have decided to be quiet on some issues in order not to be a noisemaker like Femi Fani Kayode whom in his time contributed to today's collapse of the nation but suddenly turns an activist because his party lost grip of power. Also, I don't want to be like Femi Adeshina who because of money and stomach made his writing biased and not considering the sufferings of the citizens, this has made his writing irrelevant to many despite his status. The attitude of many the youths makes the elderly people wonder what the future will be like when these youths get hold of power and also become parents. Seriously, the actions and lifestyle of many youths require special attention and rehabilitation but what made the situation this bad? Why do we have more youths with immoral acts compared to those who are morally equipped? Reasons for the decay in society are not far fetched. It all boils down to two things, that is; Nature and Nurture but for this write up, I will dwell majorly on Nurtur...

THE POOR GETTING POORER: 32month unpaid salary of OAUTHC unskilled workers by Olabanji Joel

I Olabanji Joel was born and brought up in a country where it is believed that a better life can not be lived by all, the regular believe is that the rich will only become richer and the poor despite hardwork will be poorer unless a miracle occur and that a common man has no hope but I am always of a believe that all humans deserve a better life irrespective of background, religious belief, region of origin etc. A better life that I stand for doesn't mean everyone will get rich, o no!!! It is not possible due to so many factors but I believe comfortability can be achieved. Comfortability irrespective of the job anyone does. All duties are important, no one can survive as a separate entity, a Doctor can't do the work of a Nurse, Cleaner, lab scientist, Gardener, Security etc so all workers are important. Reading the report from punch news, it's simply glaring that the poor are left to wallow more in poverty despite trying so hard to work. The unskilled workers who don't...

A NURSE WAS ALMOST KILLED BY A POLICE OFFICER ON HER WAY TO ATTEND TO AN EMERGENCY

I had something else on my mind before my attention was drawn to an inhumane act performed by a police officer to a Nurse while on her way to work. The story was reported by Babawale Popoola. While the health workers are at the fore front combating Covid-19, Nigerian police at Irele , Ondo State plot to kill A nurse/midwife who was called to rescue an emergency labor case of twin gestation having fetal distress already. On her way to assist at work she met three checkpoints of which she explained to them that she is a health worker (nurse/midwife) and there is an emergency to attend to at work showing them her ID card, she was released at the 1st checkpoint, also the 2nd checkpoint released her. The officers at the third checkpoint threw log of wood at the bikeman, the bike man was hit and lost control of the bike making the both the bike man to fall on motion and and the nurse at the back sustaining degrees of injury. And they left her at the scene unattended to. ASP

LATEST; UNIMEDTHC MANAGEMENT STIRRING AN IMPENDING DANGER. Olabanji Joel

From my last report, it was stated that the six sacked nurses have been called back. While being thankful to God and the media for the success, we are not to forget the pay cut which happened when #33,000 was deducted from the salary of the single qualified newly employed nurses and #2000 from the double qualified newly employed nurses from the February salary with 4months arrears still unpaid. On 22nd April, 2020, a meeting was called by the Chief Medical Director of the institution in person of Dr. Oluwole Ige and at the meeting, they were informed that March and April salary won't be paid unless the hospital gets the subvention from the government. The summary of the meeting goes thus; 1. The newly employed workers are to wait till the March subvention comes in( which could come in a week time, two or more), then they take their march salary 2. The newly employed health workers be hopeful and prayerful that the process in taking of salary to the central payment unit which is ...

TO MY IGBO BROTHERS; ONENESS AND RESPONSIBILITY

As it stands today, we are all still Nigerians and it weakens me when I see posts and tweets of one ethnic group abusing another while we condemn racism and xenophobic attack from other countries. I have noticed that not all Igbos goes with the ideology of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) meaning not all Igbos are Biafrans but because I don't know who is who, I will like to direct this write up to the bigoted Igbos since a majority of them claim to be Biafrans. I have Igbo friends that I cherish and respect, we met in various places such as school, church, place of work etc and we have shared things together despite not being from the same region but we still share the same Nationality; "A Nigerian". When a white man abuses a black man, we call him a racist. Last year, when the South Africans were killing the Nigerians we all complained and called them names due to the xenophobic attack but what about the one happening within our country? Is it different? I can see...

THIS TIME MESSAGE TO THE CHURCH by Olabanji Joel.

This is the best time for evangelism, best time to win souls for Christ, the time to make people know what the church stands for (love) and to silence the forces rising against the church. God first loved us and that's why he created us in his own image, he further showed us love by sending his only begotten son to die for us, what love can be greater than this? The love of God is the reason why we are graced today and that's why we need to show love too so that we can forever be graced. Right now, many people are on the streets with nothing to eat because their means of livelihood has been altered due to the stay at home policy and I feel the church stretching forth a helping hand will go a long way. In a time like this where the countries that are seemingly believed to be highly developed with sophisticated technologies and the best health care systems are falling to Covid-19, then a country like ours which has nothing compared to them only has God, while we will not deny ...

NIGERIA, MY COUNTRY By Reuben Georgeana

I live in a country where the rulers hide money in the graveyard while the citizens struggle for a single note. The poor are getting poorer, and the rich are getting richer. We've been mute for a long time because pains and smiles have been the trend. But what do we do in a time like this? We can't just sit back and fold our hands! No, we must speak up!!! The reward of voting is good governance but this looks like an abomination in my country. It is a slap on our intelligence when our rulers declared a lockdown with no food provision for the citizens. Please note that during this period, houses and shops are burgled; people are stabbed and in the process, some lose their lives. In fact, the noise echoed by "won tun ti de o" is a great shock to the old and young as fear grips the heart of many. We can't go out neither can we stay indoors because nowhere is safe. Recently, Alagbado, Agege, Sango, Ifo,Iyanaworo and close areas have been in disarray due to robbery. ...

A STRONG VOICE TO ENABLING THE DESIRED GROWTH IN NURSING PROFESSION

Carefully studying the happenings in nursing all over Nigeria, I have come to the understanding that the young ones who desire a better future are just on our own. Do we have a strength? Yes, we do have a strength, we have all it takes, we have the number and we have the strong will. Do we have a voice? No!! No!! No!! We don't but it seems we do. A candle is useless when it is being lighted and put in a bushel therefore we don't have a voice if it doesn't speak out. Why don't we have a voice? We do not have a voice because we have allowed ourselves to be silenced, I mean we have decided to use the voice on some other things instead of investing the voice and positively impacting the profession. What took away the voice? I have over the years studied that many people in nursing actually never wanted nursing but had to be in nursing due to some circumstances, if these kinds of people refuse to see the good in the profession, they will never be fulfilled being a professio...

ABBA KYARI'S DEATH: THINKING BACK AND CALLING ON THE YOUTHS FOR A BETTER FUTURE TO BE ATTAINED By Olabanji Joel

Abba Kyari's death is not the end of the problems in Nigeria, it won't even solve any of our problems. He surely had his good and bad sides which I am not here to mention, I am only here to tell the youths to wake up and be responsible. The death of a supposed bad leader won't bring an end to the long term radiating problems in this country because there are still many more like him. The step needed for a country to attain a better country is for all of us to be responsible, I mean we need to take it upon ourselves that this country is ours because if we don't see it as our personal heritage then there will be no way we can stop it from decaying. If there is no change in attitude then we will keep on recycling the same situation which corruption has made normal to us. Restructuring is needed but change in attitude comes first before nationwide change can be achieved. Seriously, we have a big problem in the country which the present generation inherited from the past g...

LATEST FROM UNIMEDTHC ONDO STATE. Written by Olabanji Joel

It's with greatest delight that I write to give an update about the sacked nurses at UNIMEDTH Ondo State. Earlier this year, Six (6) nurses were reportedly sacked at the state teaching hospital for rightfully demanding for what was theirs. After series of reports from the media and attention in the month of March, the nurses who were sacked for requesting for their unpaid salaries which wasn't paid for months were asked to write an apology. The report gotten from a worker in the hospital said the six wrote the apology letter despite doing nothing wrong but they had to write because both the hospital nursing association and the state nursing association seems helpless and all they could do was to write an apology for demanding for their right. From a true source, out of the 6 sacked nurses, five (5) were called back and the last person who is believed by the management to be the major voice and organiser of the protest wasn't called back whereas the protest was a joint a...

Covid-19: Inside Osun State by Olabanji Joel

If not for Covid-19 there won't be any compulsion for the government to share food and money but since there is a need now, what has been happening within Osun State? On one hand, It will be so unfair if the interventions of the government of Osun and that of many well meaning individuals are not appreciated. Osun State relief materials were released about two days ago and it has since been going round together with the federal government intervention fund which the Governor said #20,000 will be given to 15,000 within the state. Many people asked of it's only 15,000 poor people that are in the state but for now, the money has gotten to some vulnerable individuals (cash delivery). Before the intervention from the state to alleviate suffering, relief materials was said to have been delivered to the people of Ede by Deji Adeleke almost immediately the lockdown started. Many individuals and organisations have since been seen doing what they can do to alleviate the suffering of ...

SUPPORT NURSES AND MIDWIVES by Olabanji Joel

2020 is the year of Nurses and Midwives and it has been tagged "Support Nurses and Midwives" by WHO. Supporting nurses and midwives will go a long way in promotion of health, prevention of sickness, sickness treatment and coping with disability and alleviation of suffering which will immensely lead to a healthy society and long live for all. Nursing is simply known as caring and the word "caring" entails many things such as making others comfortable even at your own discomfort. Nursing/midwifery is a notable profession which has over the years been the epicenter of the health care system. A nurse/midwife is the first to receive a patient and the last to care for a patient. A nurse/midwife ushers human, care so that the human can thrive in the new environment and a nurse still stays as the last person to care for an individual, giving palliative care at the later end of the person's life and also to perform the procedure called "the last office". Nurs...

THE PRESENT GOVERNMENT; THE FINISHER OF THE MASSES HOPE.

Olabanji Joel as an enthusiastic young man heard of what has happened in the time past and read what is happening presently and o can't hide the feeling that the hope of the masses has been shattered. Politics in the normal sense is to make a country better but in Nigeria it is to wage war against the poor and make the masses more poorer while enriching the rich the more. Who has cursed Nigeria? I say no one has cursed Nigeria but the country is only devoid of true leaders. We don't have leaders, we have rulers, tyrants, looters, thieves, beasts, destiny destroyers, dream killers, agents of destabilization and youths killers. It was believed that PDP before 2015 was not doing what was right but it has been proven beyond doubt that APC has nothing to offer the nation but they are here as agents of destabilization to destroy the future of the youths, frustrate the citizens, increase suicide rate in the, destroy future of the nation and leave nothing for people coming behind. ...

BE A VOICE by Reuben Georgeana

Fellow Nigerians please read through; I hope you all are staying safe? I believe this will soon be over. In view of the current happening in our Motherland; Nigeria, I write to you as an active citizen who has freedom of speech. Firstly, sometimes ago, Senator Mohammed Sanni Musa sponsored a bill titled, "Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulation Bill 2019" also called, "The Social Media Bill." I'm amazed some people are ignorant of this bill. Please note that the bill is different from the hate speech bill sponsored by Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi. You know what, of all the insecurities and other things facing our country, our senators are busy sponsoring bills regarding speech. To an extent, this bill, if passed into law will be an infringement on free speech so if our voice is gone what else? We are doomed! Second, another bill was sponsored by Senator Ibrahim Geidam titled, "Foreign education for Repentant Boko- Haram." Maybe you...

NURSES OF UNIMEDTH ONDO STATE HAD SALARY CUT/REDUCTION IN FEBRUARY SALARY. By Olabanji Joel

Nurses who were employed last year into University of Medical Sciences Ondo State experienced a huge pay cut in their February salary. The nurses who had at least four months unpaid salary arrears got a month salary on 23rd March 2020. The salary was for the month of February as this was it narration. From my source, it was disclosed that thirty-three thousand naira (#33,000) was deducted from the salary of the single qualified nurses while two thousand naira (#2000)was deducted from the salary of the double qualified newly employed nurses. Another source made it known that the single qualified nurses had a pay cut because the management felt they were wrongly placed during the employment. However, the reason behind the pay cut has not yet been disclosed to all the nurses by the management. It was reported that the newly employed nurses are suffering due to their unpaid salaries and work overload as a result of shortage of staff. Right now, the nurses are frustrated and discourage...

COVID-19 VS MAN INHUMANITY TO MAN by Olabanji Joel

I was sent various videos today and I couldn't look away. I am always for a better life for everyone and it saddens my heart to see how humans treat ourselves in this part of the world. Covid-19 might record a lesser death rate compared to the number of deaths our inhuman act would cause if care is not taken. In the videos I was sent, military men were assaulted and one was murdered, also, military men assaulted and the citizens they are meant to protect while upholding the law. It's inhuman for any security operative to treat any citizen like animal and it's inhuman for citizens to attack security operatives. Without taking sides, it's a known fact in Nigeria that anyone in authority either small or big uses the power on the less privilege ones but in an era where hooligans are becoming increased, a counter action can't be far fetched as it can be found in a situation where a ram being pushed to the wall turns to fight back. On one hand, our military men and p...

FEELING FOR OSUN STATE by Olabanji Joel

It's not a new thing that Osun is widely known as a poor state but there are many indigenes of the state doing well both within and outside the state. It seems our politicians, I mean the local government chairmen, house of assembly members, house of representive members, senators and the governors (both past and present) are unwilling to stretch out their hands to the poor at this crucial time but it's certain they will come around when it's time for election but what good will it do then? Thanks to Deji Adeleke and Pastor E.A Adeboye and those stretching out their hands to help the poor, more of God's blessing. Amen I feel for all those in the state because even the government workers of the state are poor, the skilled and unskilled workers are poor, no one is allowed to work now so how will people get food and survive this time? How will a primary school teacher (degree holder) who receive within 8,000-10,000 naira survive, please how has the person been survivin...
